What Is the HP (Hanger-Pack) Series?

The Hanger-Pack (HP) series refers to a family of corrugated box designs that incorporate an integrated hanger tab or hole for hanging on retail peg hooks. These die-cut containers allow products to be displayed vertically on pegboard or slatwall fixtures, maximizing retail shelf space and improving product visibility at the point of purchase.

HP boxes are manufactured from a single corrugated blank with the hanger feature built directly into the die line. No separate hanger clips or attachments are needed, which simplifies packing and reduces material costs compared to blister cards or clamshell packaging.

Common Applications

HP series boxes are widely used for small consumer products that are merchandised on peg hooks in retail stores. Typical applications include hardware items (screws, bolts, brackets), electrical accessories, plumbing fittings, craft supplies, small toys, and personal care products. Any product that benefits from hanging display rather than shelf stacking is a candidate for HP packaging.

The corrugated construction provides superior product protection compared to thin blister cards, and the printable surface area offers ample room for branding, product information, and UPC codes. For maximum visual impact, HP boxes can be produced with litho-laminated or digitally printed graphics.

Design Considerations

When designing an HP box, the hanger hole must be positioned to balance the weight of the filled package so it hangs straight on the peg. The hole size and reinforcement must be adequate for the product weight — heavier items may require a reinforced hanger area or a wider hanging slot. The box body can be configured as an end load, tuck-end, or auto-bottom design depending on packing line requirements.

All dimensions are specified as inside dimensions to ensure the product fits correctly. The outer dimensions must also be considered to verify that the package fits standard peg hook spacing at retail.
